.458 SOCOM

The .458 SOCOM was designed as a solution to the lack of stopping power that the 5.56 NATO offered. The special forces community wanted to collaborate on a new round that would be compatible with the existing M4 carbine, fit existing magazines, and maintain subsonic, heavy hitting properties. With such compatibility, the .458 SOCOM has seen extensive application through civilian use in AR-15 hunting platforms.
